This Ph.D. thesis describes the themes of acceptance of the East Polynesian Latter-day Saints (LDS). It is based on ethno-historical sources and on fieldwork in the North Island of New Zealand, the Hawaiian Islands and French Polynesia between 1993 and 1995. Focus is on contemporary accounts which explore personal conversion experiences and the popular religious understandings of Christianity amongst East Polynesian LDS.
